Story line
Based on Elena Patron's comic novel, translated into movie by Regal Films directed by Ishmael Bernal, the 1988 opus Nagbabagang Luha remains heartbreaking and provocative, featuring Gabby Concepcion, Alice Dixson, and Lorna Tolentino on its stellar marquee. And to commemorate its 33rd year since its release, GMA proudly recreates the '80s classic into a series which excitingly pairs for the for the time Glaiza De Castro and Rayver Cruz, playing the roles of Lorna Tolentino and Gabby Concepcion respectively, while introducing Claire Castro who portrays the role which catapulted Alice Dixson's transition into becoming a reputable dramatic actress. Still about the controversial life of Maita (Glaiza De Castro), the TV adaptation of Nagbabagang Luha remains a stunningly well-acted masterpiece. It packs an emotional wallop that makes Maita's life so painfully glorious and her story so bitterly beautiful. Viewers will be intrigued by how Maita's own lone sibling, Cielo (Claire Castro) and the man she loves, Alex (Rayver Cruz), cause extreme smoldering tears of misery in a shocking, unthinkable, and unforgivable manner. Joining the stellar cast of Nagbabagang Luha are Mike Tan and Ms. Gina Alajar. It also stars Alan Paule, Archi Adamos, Myrtle Sarrosa, Royce Cabrera, Ralph Noriega, Karenina Haniel, Bryan Benedict, and Cannes Film Festival Best Actress Jaclyn Jose in a very special role. Nagbabagang Luha is headed by GMA SVP for Entertainment Group Lilybeth G. Rasonable, VP for Drama Redgie A. Magno, AVP for Drama Cheryl Ching-Sy, Senior Program Manager Redynn Alba, and Senior Executive Producer Winnie Holis-Reyes. The series' creative team is composed of creative director Aloy Adlawan; creative head for afternoon block RJ Nuevas; creative consultant Des Garbes- Severino; head writer Rona Lean G. Santos; writers Renato Custodio Jr., Maria Zita Garganera, Kenneth, Angelo C. Enriquez, Liberty L. Trinidad, and Loi Argel Nova. Together with second unit director Phillip Lazaro, Nagbabagang Luha is under the helm of director and veteran actor Ricky Davao.
